2-Year Tamron Australia Warranty
This exciting Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 Di II LD [IF] Macro 1:1 Lens is the first in its class to combine top-notch macro shooting performance down to 1:1 (life-size on-sensor image) with unequalled depth of field control and extended low-light shooting ability thanks to its ultra-wide f/2 aperture. With a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 93mm, it's a superb choice for portraits. Its two LD glass elements and internal focusing (IF) endow it with exceptional imaging performance.
A lightweight, compact macro lens with fast maximum aperture
To prevent the Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 lens from becoming bulky due to the fast f/2.0 maximum aperture, the internal constructions of conventional macro lenses were thoroughly reviewed. Improvements in the accuracy and reliability of precision components has allowed a compact body with a maximum diameter of only 73mm and weighing a mere 400g.
Fast maximum aperture of f/2.0 that strikes a fine balance between attractive out-of-focus effects and sharpness
The Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 lens is a medium telephoto macro lens designed for APS-C size digital SLR cameras that realises the fast maximum aperture of f/2.0 for the first time in the world. Tamron has successfully controlled complex movements of respective lens groups to restrain the increase in aberration changes due to the fast maximum aperture, thus achieving uniform sharpness from the centre of the image to the periphery. As depth-of-field at f/2.0 is shallower than that of conventional f/2.8 optics, this lens expands the range of macro photographic expression. Tamron’s extensive macro lens design know-how lets the SP AF60mm finely balance sharp image performance with beautiful out-of-focus background effects.
Employment of special low-dispersion glass elements
The Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 lens employs two large LD (low dispersion) glass elements in its first group to thoroughly compensate for a number of aberrations and attain high optical quality.
Working distance of 100mm, the longest distance among lenses in this class
Tamron has realised the long working distance of 100mm from the front element of the lens to the subject in life-size macro photography, the longest among lenses in its class. This allows the user to take macro shots while maintaining a sufficient distance from such subjects like timid insects that are likely to escape if you move in too close. Also, with this longer working distance, you can prevent the shadow of the lens barrel interfering with lighting of the subject as often occurs with the short working distances of 1:1 macro photography.
Internal focusing system for enhanced ease of use
The Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 lens employs an internal focusing (IF) system which preserves the overall length of the lens due while focusing. As the front group of the lens does not extend, the lens is particularly easy to use in close focusing ranges.
Cleaner, crisper images without flare or ghosting
Tamron has employed new BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) multi-layer coatings in order to ensure optimum performance in all photographic situations. The new BBAR coatings enhance the light transmission factors in both the short and long wavelength ranges, a condition that was thought incompatible with conventional anti-reflection coating technology. In addition, Tamron employs internal surface coatings (coatings on cemented surfaces of lens elements) for sharpness, high colour reproduction performance and superior colour balance.
Autofocus/Manual focus switch
The ability to switch quickly between autofocus (AF) and manual focus (MF) is a great asset in many types of shooting, especially sports and nature photography. This is easily accomplished with Tamron's ingenious AF/MF system. By simply sliding the focus ring back and forth between the two positions you can select either the AF or the MF focusing position. In manual focus mode Tamron lenses provide smooth, precise manual focusing by turning their wide, well-textured focusing rings.
Full-time manual control mechanism
Fine focus control is essential in macro photography. The Tamron SP AF 60mm F/2 lens incorporates a full-time manual control mechanism that enables the user to manually adjust focus without engaging the AF/MF switchover button, even when in the autofocus mode. The large focus control ring ensures a solid grip and precise control of manual focusing.
