The Samyang 16mm F2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens is a wide-angle manual focus lens designed for cropped sensors (CS) APS-C and MFT cameras.
The Samyang 16mm is a rectilinear lens, offering superb image quality and low distortion. It is perfectly suited to cropped sensor cameras for landscape and general photography requiring a high quality wide angle lens. The large f2 aperture allows for low light photography.
Optical construction is 13 elements in 11 groups, with 2 aspherical lenses, 1 Extra-low Dispersion (ED) element and one hybrid aspherical and feature Samyang’s UMC Ultra Multi coating coating which ensures superb transmission of light, and minimises flare and ghosting. The Samyang 16mm offers very low distortion characteristics, and professional optical performance and handling. The elements are housed in a solid body weighing from approx 570g, dependant on mount. The Samyang 16mm lens accepts 77mm filters to attach ND, polarisers or any filter with a 77mm filter thread and features a detachable petal lens hood.
Suitable for both for professional and amateur photographers the 16mm is equivalent to 24mm equivalent on APS-C sized sensors, 25.6mm on Canon EOS (1.6x crop factor), and 32mm on Olympus and Panasonic MFT sensor system cameras.
The Samyang 16mm features a wide, ribbed manual focus ring which is smooth and well-damped. This provides a positive manual focus, particularly suitable for more professional videoing / filming with DSLR’s where manual focus is preferred, enabling focussing pulling whilst video recording.
- Glass Aspherical lens (AS) and Hybrid Aspherical lens (H-ASP)
- Low dispersion (ED) lenses
- Ultra Multi Coating (UMC) technology of Samyang Optics
- Circular aperture with 8 blades
Hybrid aspherical lenses (H-ASP)
Hybride aspherical lenses provide excellent image and contrast even through maximum aperture in center and edge of frame.
High Refractive, extra low dispersion (ED)
High refractive elements and low dispersion lenses reduce chromatic aberation effectively to get excellent image quaility.
Ultra multi coating (UMC)
We apply the UMC(ultra multi coating) of our own technology to reduce flare and ghost as much as possible and get clear and fresh colour image.
Glass aspherical lenses (AS)
The adaption glass aspherical lenses reproduce aberration to get high quality image in centre and edge of frame and excellent contrast.
Circular aperture with 8 blades
8 aperture blades create almost a full circle when closed and express ray beautifully as starlight.
