The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2500 Digital Camera is designed for versatile and powerful optics with a 20x optical zoom LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens (35mm camera equivalent 24-480mm). The DMC-FZ2500 has built-in ND filters with four settings: -2EV (1/4), -4EV (1/16), -6EV (1/64) and AUTO. These are easily adjusted via a switch on the lens barrel. This enables videographers to shoot video at a fixed shutter speed or in very bright conditions with a maximum open aperture.

To achieve the highly sophisticated zoom design, Panasonic has incorporated technology used in professional camcorders. The camera has a coreless DC motor to ensure smooth and stable zooming with image shift suppressed by 80% compared to the DMC-FZ1000, and improved focus tracking. The 9-blade aperture diaphragm produces a stunning bokeh effect. In addition, the lens technology enables super smooth iris control, so even in extreme conditions, the transition between apertures is seamless.

The breathtaking video capabilities include recording 4K video in Cinema 4K resolution (4096 x 2160), at 24fps or 4K resolution (3840 x 2160) at up to 30fps in MOV/MP4; and Full HD at an ultra-high bit rate of 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 100 Mbps (IPB) with no limit on recording duration . Videos can be recorded in the MOV, MP4 and AVCHD file formats and professionals who travel and work in different countries can switch recording frequencies between 50Hz, 60Hz and 24Hz. The camera also provides live image output to an external monitor in up to 4:2:2/10-bit via an optional micro HDMI cable.

Panasonic offers a suite of professional video effects. VFR (variable frame rate) recording lets the user produce creative and expressive videos using techniques such as overcranking for slow-motion and undercranking for quick-motion, all in Full HD . Slow or Quick motion is operated at a press of a button, with 50% slow motion (120 fps) or 200% quick motion (30 fps) while recording at 60 fps. Dolly Zoom offers the classic unsettling dramatic effect of pulling the camera angle away from the subject while the lens zooms in or vice versa. Time Lapse/Stop Motion Animation video is available in-camera.

Panasonic’s latest suite of 4K Photo and Post Focus capabilities are easily accessed direct from the drive dial. 4K Pre-Burst mode shoots 30 frames per second before and after the shutter is released to capture the defining shot. ‘Batch Save’ stores an entire Burst sequence of up to 150 frames at just one press of a button. Post Focus now includes Focus Stacking, which allows the user to refocus their shot after they’ve taken it, or combine focus points to achieve complete foreground to background focus.

The camera’s large 1-inch 20.1 megapixel MOS sensor makes it possible to capture beautiful, clear images with minimal noise, even when shot at high ISO sensitivity. Panasonic’s high speed AF with Depth from Defocus technology offers AF of approx.0.09 sec and high speed burst shooting at 12 fps (AFS) / 7 fps (AFC) to capture fast-moving subjects in crisp focus (with a buffer of up to 100 (JPEG) / 30 (RAW) images.

Ensuring precise focus, the OLED Live View Finder (2360K-dot) has an increased magnification of 0.74x (35mm camera equivalent). The high-speed OLED technology delivers a time lag of less than 0.01 sec and an exceptional 10,000:1 contrast ratio. An eyepoint distance of 20mm improves visibility for glasses wearers. The 3-inch 1040K-dot touch-control rear monitor has a versatile tilting design.

Features

Newly Developed Photo/Video Hybrid Lens
The new LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens has an F2.8-4.5 brightness that resists blurring even for telephoto shots, and an angle of view that extends from 24mm wide-angle to 20x optical zoom while maintaining the body size. The lens unit consists of 16 elements in 11 groups, including 4 ED lenses, 5 aspherical lenses with 8 aspherical surfaces, and a UHR lens. This lens meets Leica's stringent standards in the MTF value and in the suppression of ghosts and flaring. Panasonic’s unique aspherical lens mold technology achieves a beautiful, evenly smooth defocus with an invisible edge line.

Video Creation to Meet Pro Quality
The LUMIX FZ2500 further evolves to meet professional quality and standard with the capability of 4K (Cinema 4K: 4096 x 2160 / 24 fps and QFHD 4K: 3840 x 2160 / up to 30 fps) video recording in MOV / MP4 and ultra high bitrate Full HD video recording at 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) / 100 Mbps (IPB) without recording duration limit. In addition, a variety of practical functions required for professional video recording are newly integrated.

20x Optical Zoom in a Compact Body

Live Output via HDMI
The LUMIX FZ2500 is capable of real-time image output (4:2:2/8 bit or 4:2:2/10 bit) to the external monitor via an optional micro HDMI cable*. It is suitable for the professional video making that requires serious monitoring of the imageries. You can choose to output only the recording content or the content with the setting menus individually depending on a display.

* When using 4:2:2/10-bit output, simultaneous video recording on SDXC/SDHC Memory Card in the camera is not possible. When using 4:2:2/8-bit output, video is recorded in 4:2:0/8-bit on SDXC/SDHC Memory Card in the camera.

Large 1-inch Sensor – Stunning Images Even in Low Light
The large 1-inch 20.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS Sensor improves the S/N ratio, making it possible to capture clear images with minimum noise even when shot at ISO12800 / Extended ISO25600. The rich amount of light helps to produce an impressive defocus with shallow depth of field. It lets you create truly stunning images in a wide variety of shooting situations.

Ultra High Speed Focusing
Capture even the fastest moving action thanks to DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology. It instantly calculates the distance to the subject by evaluating two images with different sharpness levels, and achieves ultra-high-speed AF and 7 fps burst shooting with AFC. 12 fps burst shooting with AFS is also available.

0.74x Large OLED LVF with 2,360k-dot
A high-resolution 2,360k-dot OLED Live View Finder allows high visibility thanks to 10,000:1 contrast and perfect framing even under direct sunlight conditions. High 0.74x magnification (35mm camera equivalent) and a wide-viewing angle make it easy to see image details even when the eye is moved away from the centre of the viewfinder. The rear monitor with tilt/swivel capability gives you the freedom to find unusual perspectives while maintaining easy operation and full image control. Plus, touch control lets you immediately set focus on the subject by simply touching it on the screen, and even lets you release the shutter with a single touch.

Direct, Intuitive Lens Barrel Operation
A dual ring control system enables focusing and zooming, just like LUMIX G zoom lenses. ND filter and three Fn buttons on the lens barrel offer smooth video operation just like professional video cameras. WB colour temperature setting and slow & quick zoom setting can be allocated to the Fn buttons to enhance video operation.

Terminals for Expanded Connectivity
The LUMIX FZ2500 comes with a variety of connection terminals: a 3.5mm microphone jack, 3.5mm headphone jacks, and 2.5mm jack for remote control. In combination with the DMW-MS2 Stereo Shotgun Microphone (sold separately), you can switch the following settings on the camera menu: Stereo, Lens Auto, Shotgun, Super Shotgun and Manual.

Unmissable Moments with 4K PHOTO
Thanks to 4K technology inside the LUMIX FZ2500, 4K PHOTO allows you to capture the perfect moment in 30fps, and select your best photo after shooting. Shoot, select and save. With 4K PHOTO mode on the LUMIX FZ2500, make your moments truly unmissable.

Adjust the Focus Area After Shooting
Imagine being able to decide exactly what you want in focus, even after you've taken the photo. The Post Focus function gives you the power to do just that. Simply capture the scene, review the image and touch the part of the photo you'd like to be pin sharp. It's simple, stunning and all inside the camera. The Focus Stacking function enables you to adjust the focus area after shooting by combining multiple images. You can get an image with exactly the kind of defocus you want or pan-focus the image by simply selecting the focus area after shooting. This is beneficial when shooting macro shots of insects, small accessories and so on.

*1 About motion picture recording / 4K PHOTO recording:
Use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 4" or higher when recording motion pictures. Use a card with SD Speed Class with "UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3)" when recording motion pictures in [4K/100Mbps] [C4K/100Mbps] [FHD/100Mbps] [FHD/200Mbps] or [4K PHOTO]. Use a card with SD Speed Class with "UHS-I Speed Class 1 (U1)" or higher when recording motion pictures in [FHD/50Mbps]. Use a card with SD Speed Class with "Class 4" or higher when recording motion pictures in [FHD/28Mbps]. (SD speed class is the speed standard regarding continuous writing.) MP4 motion pictures with [MP4] in [4K]: When using an SDHC memory card: You can continue recording without interruption even if the file size exceeds 4 GB, but the motion picture file will be divided and recorded/played back separately. When using an SDXC memory card: You can continue recording without interruption even if the file size exceeds 96 GB or 3 hours 4 minutes in length, but the motion picture file will be divided and recorded/played back separately. MP4 motion pictures with [MP4] in [FHD] [HD]: You can continue recording without interruption even if the file size exceeds 4 GB or 30 minutes in length, but the motion picture file will be divided and recorded/played back separately. When the ambient temperature is high or continuous recording is performed, the camera may stop the recording to protect itself. Wait until the camera cools down. These are standard times taken at a temperature of 23 oC (73.4 oF) and a humidity of 50%RH. The time available for recording varies depending on the environment, the interval between recordings, and the manner of use. Actual recordable time is the time available for recording when repeating actions such as switching the power supply [ON] / [OFF], starting/stopping recording, zoom operation etc.
*2 For [4K] or [C4K] video output, use an HDMI cable that has the HDMI logo on it, and that is described as"4K compatible".
*3 Recording conditions by CIPA standard Temperature: 23 oC (73.4 oF) / Humidity: 50%RH when monitor is on. Using a Panasonic SDHC Memory Card Using the supplied battery. Starting recording 30 seconds after the camera is turned on. (When the optical image stabiliser function is set to [ON].) Recording once every 30 seconds with full flash every second recording. Rotating the zoom lever from Tele to Wide or vice versa in every recording. The number of recordable pictures varies depending on the recording interval time. If the recording interval time becomes longer, the number of recordable pictures decreases. CIPA is an abbreviation of [Camera & Imaging Products Association].
